Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My project manager really listened to my design ideas and was open to my participation in locating border materials from sources he didn't normally work with so the final product was functional and beautiful. Yes, there was a couple of bumps in the process but again my PM stayed friendly and helpful as we worked through the issues. And the price was VERY competitive. An overall excellent experience. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service. Got a quote on getting the backyard in my new home done. Was looking to get a good size area of artificial turf and the rest rocks and they quoted me a great price. It was one of the most affordable quotes we got. They were very knowledgeable even recommended non reflective window covering so the sun wouldn’t hit off the window on the grass and melt the grass. We were gonna go with another company but they had misquoted us on what we wanted and tried charging us a lot more right before the project so we ended up getting ahold of apex and they came right out and stuck to the quote even when they didn’t have the turf we picked the have us better quality turf at the quoted price. They did an amazing job and it looks great and we love it. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great job at and even better price.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We worked with Zach and he was knowledgeable, professional, and respectful of our time. The crew did a really good job and we didn’t run into any issues. We haven’t had much use since it’s been summer but it is beautiful and we are so excited to use it soon.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really liked working with Apex. They were very upfront with costs and scheduling. We had them fix travertine install that was botched by another company. They installed a patio extension with pavers and installed turf for the rest of the backyard. There was an issue with the turf and they handled it professionally and came back out to fix it immediately. I have to finish up the front yard and will definitely be utilizing them again.

FAQ's About Artificial Grass for Playgrounds

Yes. High-quality playground turf is one of the safest surfacing options for schools, parks, and childcare centers. We install systems that include a shock-absorbing pad beneath the turf, which helps cushion falls and reduce injury risk. This padding is designed to meet national safety standards, including ASTM F1292 for impact attenuation, which measures how well the surface protects children from specific fall heights.

Our playground turf also offers a consistent, even surface that avoids the hazards of loose-fill materials like mulch or sand. There are no holes, bare spots, or tripping hazards to manage, and the turf drains quickly after rain so the area can be used sooner.

For inclusivity, we can build systems that meet ASTM F1951 for ADA accessibility. This helps ensure the surface is firm and stable enough for wheelchairs and mobility devices, making the space more accessible for all students.

In short, a properly installed turf system can be cleaner, safer, and more consistent than many traditional playground surfaces.

High quality playground turf is specifically engineered to withstand the constant foot traffic that comes with school recess, physical education, and daily play.

We use dense polyethylene fibers, reinforced backing, and commercial grade padding that hold up under running, sliding, and repeated use from large groups of children.

UV inhibitors help protect the turf from fading or breaking down under the Arizona sun, and the fibers are designed to spring back instead of matting down. Unlike natural grass, which quickly turns to dirt or develops bare patches, playground turf stays consistent across the entire surface.

With proper installation and maintenance, playground turf systems can handle years of heavy use while still looking clean, even, and safe for students.

Yes. We spec and install playground systems that can be designed to meet ASTM F1951 standards for accessibility.

This standard measures how easily wheelchairs and mobility devices can move across the surface.

Turf with a proper base and pad creates a firm, stable, and even surface that is easier to navigate than sand, mulch, or loose crumb materials.

This helps schools and parks create more inclusive play spaces for all children.

Compared to natural grass, mulch, or sand, maintenance is far easier and cheaper in the long run.

Apex Turf provides every school and park with a recommended maintenance schedule that outlines simple tasks to keep the surface performing well over time.

While we do not offer turf maintenance services directly, we work closely with several trusted cleaning and maintenance companies who specialize in power brooming, deep cleaning, and infill top-ups.

We are happy to connect you with a reliable partner who knows our recommended maintenance schedules.

Absolutely. We install fully customizable systems.

You can choose from multiple colors, add decorative shapes, or integrate your school or club logo directly into the surface.

This is ideal for branding, team spirit, or creating themed play zones.

We can help design a layout that enhances both safety and visual appeal.

We install a high quality shock pad beneath the playground turf to help cushion falls and improve overall safety.

This foam layer is engineered to meet ASTM F1292 impact attenuation standards, which measure how well the surface can protect children from specific fall heights.

By matching the pad thickness to your equipment’s tallest platform, we can design a system that meets the required critical fall height for your playground.

In short, the shock pad is what turns a turf surface into a true safety system. It provides a reliable, soft landing area designed for everyday play in schools, parks, and childcare environments.

Playground turf definitely warms up in direct sunlight, but modern systems are cooler than many people expect.

High quality fibers with cooling technology, combined with cooling infill, can reduce surface temperatures significantly.

In most cases, well designed turf stays cooler than poured rubber or black crumb surfaces found in older playgrounds.

Shade structures also help keep temperatures comfortable, especially during peak summer hours.

We always recommend a shade structure if the budget allows it. We have trusted partners that we work with to create shade structures that work in tandem with artificial grass.

We can recommend the best turf and infill combination for your site to maximize comfort.

Most playground turf systems last 10 to 15 years.

The lifespan depends on the type of turf, the amount of daily traffic, and the quality of the installation.

With simple routine maintenance, your playground surface can stay safe, clean, and reliable for many years.

Yes. Playground turf removes many common allergens found in natural grass and dirt, and it eliminates the need for fertilizers, pesticides, and weed sprays.

No pollen, dust holes, or chemical treatments are required.

When combined with antimicrobial infill, the surface stays cleaner and healthier for students with allergies or sensitivities.

Costs vary based on the size of the play area, the type of turf, the shock pad thickness required for fall-height protection, and the amount of site preparation needed.

Commercial playground turf systems generally cost more than basic residential turf because they include safety padding and higher durability ratings.

We provide transparent, open-book estimates so you can see exactly how pricing breaks down for your project.
